DESERT HEARTS PRESENTS
HELPING HEARTS
A worldwide Movement
If you asked anyone on a Desert Hearts dance floor what the ethos of the legendary party crew is, they’d tell you House. Techno. Love. without skipping a beat. Sounds simple enough, right? The first two tenements are easy; House and Techno music, the engine that drives the dance floor and provides a unified pulse for the party. The third tenement, love, is a little more ambiguous and tougher to quantify. Some would say it’s the unseen vibe of the event, others would describe it as the feeling you get when you dance untethered deep into the night making it all the way past sunrise or finding the warm embrace of an energetic community full of like-minded freaks.
For the Desert Hearts crew, however, it is the driving force behind everything they do. With the goal to spread as much love and positive energy as humanly possible, one of the ways they achieve this is through their Helping Hearts initiative.
Wanting to influence social change and human connection beyond the festival scene, the Desert Hearts crew teamed up with the iconic “Love Ride” in 2017 and began a call to action to help those in dire predicaments. Many members of the community came together to assemble thousands of care packages that were then distributed in person among homeless communities in Venice, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.
As word of the community efforts grew, so did the scope of the project as well as the desire to participate. Now at many of the events around the country, Helping Hearts organizes clothing donations, toy drives, canned food drives, and other social activism projects, making it easy for fans to get involved. Most recently at Desert Hearts urban “City Hearts Festival” the initiative partnered with the LA Mission and collected over 2,500 pounds of canned goods from attendees to donate to needy families for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
